A
great way to explore French Polynesia is on Radisson Seven Seas' six star luxury
liner. Stunningly crafted, and
specially designed to navigate the
coral-filled, shallow waters of the area,
the m/s Paul Gauguin has a magical feel
about her from the moment you reach the
boarding ramp. A floating tribute to the
culture-rich area, photos of ancient Tahiti
line the walls while "Fare Tahiti"
(a mini museum) holds exhibits of
manuscripts and finitely carved Polynesian
artifacts. Homey with a controlled elegance,
life onboard is laid back, casual, and so
passenger-pampering they provide you with a
cold bottle of water to take ashore, and
cold towels and liquid refreshments when you
return.
The
m/s Paul Gauguin is a deluxe vessel offering
small-ship luxury to just 320 guests.
Flawless, friendly service from a
European-trained staff emulates the
delightfully unhurried and unregimented
Polynesian way of life. Spacious, ocean-view
staterooms, half with balconies or
verandahs, open to sweet-scented tropical
breezes and lush island vistas. Each
features queen or twin beds,
marble-appointed bath, closed-circuit
television and VCR, individual temperature
control, direct-dial phone, refrigerator
stocked with mineral water and soft drinks,
and 24-hour room service. Fine Continental
and French cuisine is served on an
open-seating basis in two restaurants, and
there is an outdoor bistro, casino, dancing
in the main lounge, and a night club with
intimate piano bar.
The
biggest onboard treat is the ability to dive
from the retractable water sports platform
to go snorkeling, ride on a banana boat or
Zodiac, or go scuba diving with a pro dive
master. All nautical gear is free except for
scuba gear. |
